A Chilly ride December 6th 2008

A Chilly ride December 6th 2008

My wife Val Friday night mentioned a display of 800 Nativity Scenes at a Mormon Church up in Colleyville that a friend went to yesterday and she thought it was quite cool. Well I am not much into going to this kind of thing, but we have a bunch of Nativity Scenes ourselves and the weather looked promising for Saturday. So being the good husband that I am (he he) I said weather permitting for a ride on the motor cycle I would take her to the display. My wife being a fair weather rider I was thinking I should be able to get out of this gig. But at about noon she is ready adorned in leathers and chaps. My mouth dropped and I called my buddy Philip and he too was up for the venture. So off we go on 183 headed West bound. I was waiting for Val to say it was too cold but she just cuddled up against my back and hung in there. We got to Precinct Line Road and man traffic was a mess. The lights were messed up that Christmas cheer was not some of the words out of our mouths. Well we finally got out of that mess and as we headed north there were less lights and traffic so the past was soon forgotten and the smiles on our faces returned. Nothing like a nice ride in December to put things into perspective.

Here are some shots of the Nativity Scenes, and I must add that the folks at the church were not there trying to push their religion and were very nice and accommodating.

Hard to see is my buddy Phillip.

Here is Val in the big room.

We then rode back towards home and Philip mentioned he needed to get on back home to meet another one of our riding buddies to go to the Trinity Football game. So when we got to 121 and 157 Phillip headed south on 121 and Val and I went down 157. I thought we would stop by the American Legion to give some money to the toys for tot’s deal that was going on and have a cold one. Here are some shots from that.

From there we rode down to Full Bore Cycle to check out there 50% off sale. We did buy some doo rags and other trinkets. After that we stopped at a sea food restaurant and had some dinner and then went home to start a fire and sit back and relax.

Have a Merry Christmas all.

J and N Leather Benefit Poker Run 101908

This was a very unplanned ride as we did not really start talking about it until Saturday. During the week we thought we were going to be going to Palestine to meet up with Tank and his daughter Kayleigh but as it turns out that is for this weekend coming up. It does not look good for me getting Friday off so maybe we can meet them as they return and as we head that way. But the good news is we did decide to go on this ride and did get to see Tank and Kayleigh. We also got to meet James, Nancy (the owners) and Nancy’s sister Linda of course among other great folks.

The next couple of shots is the front of J & N Motorcycle Leather with Linda out front sitting at the raffle table in the first one.

The next shot (and I wish I took a better shot of it) has way in the back ground a booth for “Bikers Against Child Abuse” (BACA). There were all a bunch of great people defending a very worthy cause. I did purchase a T-shirt and a couple of pins.

The next two shots are that of a few people from the RUT family including Tank and his daughter Kayleigh.

Here are a couple more shots of the back end of J & N.

It was time to start the run so I went out to the street and shot the pictures of the folks leaving.

Once everyone left Val and I got a chance to talk with some of those who stayed behind while I waited for my very good burger to get cooked.

The next shot is that of James and Linda, Nancy’s sister and then the one next is James and Nancy. We purchased Chaps for Val, patches, pins, pin locks, and had our patches sewn on.

The next shot is looking out from the front of J & N.

Val grabs the camera while I grab my newly purchased laminated Mapsco of Texas I purchased at the HD shop on Hwy 20 and 360 to see if we should try to meet up with the pack or go exploring. We opted for exploring out West. We have not been in this immediate area before.

While Val and I was on our trip the main pack was out going to the designated stops and taking some road shots. The next two shots are courtesy of Festus.

There will some shots below that Kayleigh took. However in the mean time Val and I headed out Hwy 199 and found this little place on Lake Worth. We had to make a couple of passes at it to figure out how to get into the park. But it was worth it.

The next shot is Val doing her Vana White imitation showing the park we found.

While we are out and about the main pack is still riding and Kayleigh took some shots for us. I like her use of the B&W on a few, kind of gives you the James Dean feel. Thanks Kayleigh!

Val and I in the mean time went up towards Boyd kind of traveled around I think was 430. Anyway, Val wanted to catch the Cowboy’s score, it was getting closer to 4PM, and we were headed further into the country so we decided to turn around to find some place near J & N so we could meet the main pack back there. We found this place Eight Balls and man the score sucked. As you all know the Cowboys got whooped. It was friendly inside and inexpensive so we had a drink and headed back for J & N.

Well it was a great day and everyone had fun.
